Introducing Cheyenne Michelle

This is the light of my life. :) Isn't she cute? Meet Cheyenne Michelle Richardson, my sweet little dog who really brightens our days.

Here are a few important things to know about Chey...

1. She LOVES her tennis ball. More than anything.

2. She is four years old but looks just like a puppy.

3. She is a hiking machine. She loves it and has even done the Incline in the Springs!

4. Michael is by far her favorite to play with, but she definitely likes cuddling
with me best.

5. She really is the smartest dog, and she always impresses us with her
awesome personality.

Chey is an important part of our little family, and we're very blessed to have her!

Summer Time

Well, this blogging business has been a little on the back burner lately. I want to blog more often but man things are busy right now! Summer is a crazy time at my job and we have a huge event on Saturday that we've been working really hard on for the past few weeks.

But, no excuses here! Life is good. Santa Fe was wonderful. Michael and I needed a break away from the daily grind and we had a lot of fun.

The weather was great the whole weekend and it was a fun little city to explore.

And there was yummy sangria everywhere! And I loved it.

We of course went on a hike while we were there. It was really pretty and we met a neat couple along the way. It was a great way to spend a morning.

And Cheyenne hiked like a little champion, as usual!

My beautiful friend Kari Ann, who I used to work with in Tulsa, and her husband were there for the weekend, too, so we all met up for dinner and had a fabulous time.

So, I just wanted to share a little about our lovely trip to Santa Fe!

Weekend Getaway

My sweet hubby and I are heading to Santa Fe, New Mexico for Memorial Weekend and couldn't be more excited!

Michael is traveling quite a bit now for his job, so this will be a great time for us to spend some time together and just relax. We really have no plans set in stone, we're just gonna go with the flow and enjoy. Neither of us have been to Santa Fe before, so we're looking forward to exploring, eating yummy food and just being together. We're taking Miss Cheyenne, too!

I think vacations are so necessary, even if they're just for a weekend. Everyone needs to re-charge their batteries and get away. It is a huge priority for me and Michael. We sacrifice in other areas so that we're able to take trips when we want to. Travel is very important to both of us and I love that about our relationship.

Anyway, I always pack for trips the night before...go figure. Me=procrastinator. So, Michael gets back in town from his business trip this afternoon, we pack tonight, and we leave tomorrow afternoon. Hooray!

Cheyenne is pretty pumped about getting away and doing some sight seeing. I am ready to eat and eat and eat. And if I had to guess, I'd say Michael is just ready to do something outdoorsy in a new place.

The whole fam is anxious to get on the road, and I'll do a recap of our trip when we return. Enjoy your Memorial Weekend!

Quarter of a Century!

Well, I'm officially 25. Today was my bday and the whole weekend has been fabulous.

Saturday, Michael and I watched Robin Hood then had an awesome dinner at a local Japanese steakhouse. It was super fun and delicious.

After dinner we went to Coldstone to get a birthday cake. Yum! I picked out a red velvet confetti cake with cake batter ice cream and frosting. Holy cow it was beautiful!

Then, something happened that triggered my quarter life crisis. I've been preparing for it. Michael bought me a package of candles for my cake and guess how many were in there? Exactly 24. No joke. I'm now officially old enough to need TWO packs of bday candles. Darn it.

It's not that bad I guess but I definitely don't see any need for birthdays from here on out. 25 seems just about perfect to me. I think I'll stay here for awhile.

Today we met some amazing friends for breakfast downtown. One of my favorite places for sure. Then Michael and I headed to Denver for a Rockies baseball game. And it was a perfect day! Beautiful and sunny and warm and wonderful. I loved it.

All in all, 25's been pretty great so far.I can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Weekend Happenings

It was a great weekend around the Richardson house. My sweet husband's birthday was Friday, and we celebrated with a yummy dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants. So much fun.

Then on Saturday Michael put together our new grill that his mom gave us. It was a beautiful day outside. After the handy man successfully assembled our new toy, we went to see Iron Man 2. We liked it a lot. Saturday night, we went to a Junior Achievement dinner/auction with some friends. Lots of fun, food and drinks. We went downtown for a while afterward and everyone pointed and stared because we were all dressed up. Good times.

Sunday, we ran some errands, washed our cars and tried out our new grill. We made a delicious dinner and watched the movie Taken. It was intense. Yay for fun weekends with my little family!

Oh and one more thing! I went to spin class tonight after work and on Monday's we have spin/yoga. So, after we spin we grab our mats and do some yoga. Here's what happened. I got off my bike, walked over to get a mat, and then this boy who was completely covered by a towel on his head (seriously) starts saying "Be careful, be careful!" About that time I stepped on his glasses! No joke. I heard a crunch then realized what happened. The lenses weren't cracked but I have a feeling those bad boys aren't going to fit like they used to. Oops! I felt bad but you can't leave reading glasses in the middle of the floor in a dark cycling room! Oh well.

Have a happy week!

Love Me Some Reality TV!

I'm watching one of my favorite shows right now, The Biggest Loser. I love it. I think it's very inspirational and does so much good for so many people.

Anyway, my favorites that are left are Sunshine and Daris. They are adorable and doing so well! I hope they make it to the finale.

So, I sort of thought The Biggest Loser helped motivate me to workout harder and really get in shape and be healthy. Turns out I was a little bit wrong.

I LOVE working out. That's the fun part to me. Being active and wanting to be fit has never been a problem for me. But I just finished a bowl of chocolate ice cream. That's the problem.

I LOVE to eat, too. And eating healthy isn't much of a priority to me. I know, I know, my metabolism's going to slow down one day and it's all going to catch up with me. Well, hopefully when that happens, my obsession with being fit will override my passion for yummy, wonderful junk food.

We'll see how it goes. For now, I'm going to keep watching my buddies on The Biggest Loser and root them on until the finish. And who knows, maybe I'll keep my ice cream consumption to one time this week. But Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow, so I can't make any promises about margaritas!

A Little About Me

I'm pretty sure that only people I know will read this blog for a while. But maybe one day down the line some new friends will find this and want to know who in the world I am. In honor of that someday, I'm going to list some things that may help you get to know me a little bit more. It's going to be random, just like me.

1. I am in LOVE with my family and friends and wouldn't trade any of them for the world.

2. I'm naturally a pretty shy person, but I worked in public relations, which is pretty much an oxymoron.

3. I have an addiction to Mt. Dew. It's a serious problem, but I feel like there are worse things I could be addicted to.

4. I truly believe my husband is the genuinely nicest person I've ever met. I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and he's always up for making new friends.

5. See number 2 - Michael (the hubs) is outgoing and never meets a stranger, which balances things out nicely.

6. My dog/daughter, Cheyenne, is the most beautiful puppy in the whold world. And the smartest. And the sweetest. She's a miniature australian shepherd.

7. I'm from Oklahoma and Michael is from Idaho. We met and fell in love in Tulsa, then moved to Colorado after we got hitched.

8. We got married in Hawaii and it was wonderful. Our close friends and family were there and we loved every minute.

9. I work for a nonprofit organization and think it's a perfect fit for me. I love working hard and knowing I'm making a difference in people's lives.

10. I despise the sound of fingernails scratching cardboard. Or cardboard scratching cardboard. It makes me want to cry. Moving is always a difficult process for me because of this issue.

11. I'm obsessed with sports. Everyone I know says I'm like a college guy.

12. I used to ride and show quarter horses, and I was on the equestrian team in college. Horses taught me more life lessons than any other one thing.

13. The biggest argument during my first year of marriage centers around TV. I like it and Michael doesn't. I mean, come on, who doesn't love TV? My husband, that's who.

14. I'm planning to go back to school soon and get my master's degree. I'm anxious/excited/scared/unsure/pumped about it.

15. My husband travels a lot, and I want him to rack up enough frequent flyer miles to take us on a trip around the world. I want to go everywhere.

16. I'm a Christian and my relationship with Jesus sustains me.

17. Surprises make my soul smile. I think it's the little things that matter most, and when someone takes the time and effort to surprise you with something, it's pretty amazing.

18. I like to shop. A lot. I'm not very fashionable and I don't like buying really expensive things, but I'm a huge fan of the Gap and Fossil and Target.

19. If I could eat chinese or mexican food every day, I would in a heartbeat.

20. I went to Africa once, and it changed my life.

21. I really like zoos. My best friends and I go to zoos in every city we have girls trips. We even went to the zoo on my wedding day!

22. Living in Colorado is incredible and I really love it, but I miss Taco Bueno (in Oklahoma) every. single. day. Literally. I would do anything for a mexi dip and chips right now, people!

23. My favorite movies are When Harry Met Sally and 8 Seconds. Classic.

24. I want to adopt a baby from a third-world country.

25. I am borderline obsessed with Christmas. Borderline should probably be removed from that sentence. It's the most wonderful time of the year! The day after Christmas is one of the worst days of the year for me.

26. I really want to learn to speak Italian and Swahili. Really bad.

27. I call my mom every day. Most of the time for no reason at all. She brightens my days.

28. I love to read. My current favorites are: Eat Pray Love, Three Cups of Tea, Half the Sky, A Long Way Gone, Through Painted Deserts...ok, I'll stop. I like a lot.

29. I am learning to love running and want to run the Disney Half Marathon. I'm also just getting in to cycling.

30. I hope to have a house on land one day so I can have every animal I want. Horses, dogs, cats, goats, bunnies, a miniature donkey, a baby pig, maybe a bird, just to name a few. I grew up with most of these things and I miss it every day.
