Wow!

Well, sorry for the lack of posts of lately. I have so much to say, just no time to say it!

I don't want to be boring with updates, but so much has been going on I feel like I need to get it all out there.

First, we had our big summer event at work which took a lot of time and effort. Then, a week after that I took the GRE because I'm planning to start grad school this fall. I did not have the time I'd hoped for to prepare but it all worked out OK I guess. Not what I was hoping for but better than it could've been most definitely. =)

Oh there's more! The day I took the GRE, Michael and I started discussing our little pup and how she really needs a buddy. Michael travels so much for work, and with me starting school in the fall things are about to get pretty hectic around the Richardson home.

We've been wanting to get a puppy for awhile now, but time just flew by and getting a pup now seemed a little overwhelming. SO, we decided to adopt. Those dang Pedigree commercials make me cry every time! You know, the ones about shelter dogs? Anyway, we were both so excited to start looking for an addition to the familia while giving a deserving doggy a second chance.

Sunday was Father's Day and we headed to the Humane Society to start our search. Little did we know the search would end that day! We walked around looking at all the precious animals, I cried a few times, then we saw her...the cutest little black and white australian shepeherd ever. Her name was Daisy and we wanted to see her right away. Long story short, we hung out with her for a while and felt like she was perfect for us. A couple of hours later we walked out with a new Richardson.

(Not the greatest picture - this was at the first visit to the vet. I will take more when she's better!)

Her name is Paisley Ann and she is a sweetheart. Her and Chey hit it off but then Paisley started sneezing. So, we took her to the vet the next day. After a few more visits to the vet that week, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. What a mess! We've haven't even had her two weeks and she's had to be quarantined in our bathroom and taken countless medications. So sad.

Cheyenne just wants to play with her. We've gone through two cans of Lysol trying to keep every sanitized. She didn't eat for four days. It's been challenging to say the least. But I think we're on the downhill slide of this mess and she's starting to act like a whole new dog. She'll be quarantined until Saturday but then, hopefully, things will start getting back to normal!

Just some of things we're ready to do:
 - Let Cheyenne actually play with her new sister.
 - Get Paisley groomed! Oh for heaven's sake, she needs it badly.
 - Take the girls to the dog park.
 - Go on hikes.
 - Stop using Lysol on every inch of the house every. single. day.
 - And just enjoy our little family all together!

FIngers crossed for a speedy recovery!

Introducing Cheyenne Michelle

This is the light of my life. :) Isn't she cute? Meet Cheyenne Michelle Richardson, my sweet little dog who really brightens our days.

Here are a few important things to know about Chey...

1. She LOVES her tennis ball. More than anything.

2. She is four years old but looks just like a puppy.

3. She is a hiking machine. She loves it and has even done the Incline in the Springs!

4. Michael is by far her favorite to play with, but she definitely likes cuddling
with me best.

5. She really is the smartest dog, and she always impresses us with her
awesome personality.

Chey is an important part of our little family, and we're very blessed to have her!

Summer Time

Well, this blogging business has been a little on the back burner lately. I want to blog more often but man things are busy right now! Summer is a crazy time at my job and we have a huge event on Saturday that we've been working really hard on for the past few weeks.

But, no excuses here! Life is good. Santa Fe was wonderful. Michael and I needed a break away from the daily grind and we had a lot of fun.

The weather was great the whole weekend and it was a fun little city to explore.

And there was yummy sangria everywhere! And I loved it.

We of course went on a hike while we were there. It was really pretty and we met a neat couple along the way. It was a great way to spend a morning.

And Cheyenne hiked like a little champion, as usual!

My beautiful friend Kari Ann, who I used to work with in Tulsa, and her husband were there for the weekend, too, so we all met up for dinner and had a fabulous time.

So, I just wanted to share a little about our lovely trip to Santa Fe!

Weekend Getaway

My sweet hubby and I are heading to Santa Fe, New Mexico for Memorial Weekend and couldn't be more excited!

Michael is traveling quite a bit now for his job, so this will be a great time for us to spend some time together and just relax. We really have no plans set in stone, we're just gonna go with the flow and enjoy. Neither of us have been to Santa Fe before, so we're looking forward to exploring, eating yummy food and just being together. We're taking Miss Cheyenne, too!

I think vacations are so necessary, even if they're just for a weekend. Everyone needs to re-charge their batteries and get away. It is a huge priority for me and Michael. We sacrifice in other areas so that we're able to take trips when we want to. Travel is very important to both of us and I love that about our relationship.

Anyway, I always pack for trips the night before...go figure. Me=procrastinator. So, Michael gets back in town from his business trip this afternoon, we pack tonight, and we leave tomorrow afternoon. Hooray!

Cheyenne is pretty pumped about getting away and doing some sight seeing. I am ready to eat and eat and eat. And if I had to guess, I'd say Michael is just ready to do something outdoorsy in a new place.

The whole fam is anxious to get on the road, and I'll do a recap of our trip when we return. Enjoy your Memorial Weekend!

Quarter of a Century!

Well, I'm officially 25. Today was my bday and the whole weekend has been fabulous.

Saturday, Michael and I watched Robin Hood then had an awesome dinner at a local Japanese steakhouse. It was super fun and delicious.

After dinner we went to Coldstone to get a birthday cake. Yum! I picked out a red velvet confetti cake with cake batter ice cream and frosting. Holy cow it was beautiful!

Then, something happened that triggered my quarter life crisis. I've been preparing for it. Michael bought me a package of candles for my cake and guess how many were in there? Exactly 24. No joke. I'm now officially old enough to need TWO packs of bday candles. Darn it.

It's not that bad I guess but I definitely don't see any need for birthdays from here on out. 25 seems just about perfect to me. I think I'll stay here for awhile.

Today we met some amazing friends for breakfast downtown. One of my favorite places for sure. Then Michael and I headed to Denver for a Rockies baseball game. And it was a perfect day! Beautiful and sunny and warm and wonderful. I loved it.

All in all, 25's been pretty great so far.I can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Weekend Happenings

It was a great weekend around the Richardson house. My sweet husband's birthday was Friday, and we celebrated with a yummy dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants. So much fun.

Then on Saturday Michael put together our new grill that his mom gave us. It was a beautiful day outside. After the handy man successfully assembled our new toy, we went to see Iron Man 2. We liked it a lot. Saturday night, we went to a Junior Achievement dinner/auction with some friends. Lots of fun, food and drinks. We went downtown for a while afterward and everyone pointed and stared because we were all dressed up. Good times.

Sunday, we ran some errands, washed our cars and tried out our new grill. We made a delicious dinner and watched the movie Taken. It was intense. Yay for fun weekends with my little family!

Oh and one more thing! I went to spin class tonight after work and on Monday's we have spin/yoga. So, after we spin we grab our mats and do some yoga. Here's what happened. I got off my bike, walked over to get a mat, and then this boy who was completely covered by a towel on his head (seriously) starts saying "Be careful, be careful!" About that time I stepped on his glasses! No joke. I heard a crunch then realized what happened. The lenses weren't cracked but I have a feeling those bad boys aren't going to fit like they used to. Oops! I felt bad but you can't leave reading glasses in the middle of the floor in a dark cycling room! Oh well.

Have a happy week!

Love Me Some Reality TV!

I'm watching one of my favorite shows right now, The Biggest Loser. I love it. I think it's very inspirational and does so much good for so many people.

Anyway, my favorites that are left are Sunshine and Daris. They are adorable and doing so well! I hope they make it to the finale.

So, I sort of thought The Biggest Loser helped motivate me to workout harder and really get in shape and be healthy. Turns out I was a little bit wrong.

I LOVE working out. That's the fun part to me. Being active and wanting to be fit has never been a problem for me. But I just finished a bowl of chocolate ice cream. That's the problem.

I LOVE to eat, too. And eating healthy isn't much of a priority to me. I know, I know, my metabolism's going to slow down one day and it's all going to catch up with me. Well, hopefully when that happens, my obsession with being fit will override my passion for yummy, wonderful junk food.

We'll see how it goes. For now, I'm going to keep watching my buddies on The Biggest Loser and root them on until the finish. And who knows, maybe I'll keep my ice cream consumption to one time this week. But Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow, so I can't make any promises about margaritas!
